BLACKPINK

BLACKPINK is a popular all-girl K-pop group that debuted in August 2016. The four-member South Korean pop quartet set a record for the most first-day views of their 2018 single “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” from their YG Entertainment-released mini-album Square Up.

Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa, the quartet’s members, are also known for their fashion sense and have been labeled “fashion icons.” While they can all sing, Jennie and Lisa are rappers who provide a unique twist to the band’s joyful tone. This K-pop group’s supporters are known as Blinks.

BLACKPINK’s music is also a visual feast, with glitzy clothes, flawless choreography, and innovative concepts. It is the best-selling K-pop female group of all time, with over one million copies sold worldwide.

For the song “Kiss and Make Up,” the multilingual ensemble teamed with Dua Lipa. “How You Like That,” their most recent single, is currently No. 1 on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart. BLACKPINK will be the first K-pop girl group to perform at Coachella this year.

TWICE

Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu are the nine members of the South Korean all-girl group, who debuted in 2015. The group had seven members when it was established from a survival reality show called Sixteen. Later, Tzuyu and Momo arrived.

TWICE rose to prominence with their 2016 smash single “Cheer Up,” off their mini-album Page Two, which also earned them Mnet Asian Music Awards for Best Female Group and Song of the Year.

The band is known for its outstanding fashion ensembles and smooth and synchronized dancing, making them one of the top K-pop female groups.

The Generation Of Women

Under the banner SM Entertainment, the eight-member all-girl K-pop group debuted in August 2007. Taeyeon, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, YoonA, and Seohyun are members of the group known as SNSD.

Girls’ Generation is credited with starting the Hallyu wave long before bands like BLACKPINK. “Gee,” “The Boys,” and “Oh!” are among the group’s most popular songs, with over 100 million views on YouTube.

Their song “Into The New World” was branded a protest song and was used in a number of women’s rights events, including Me To campaigns and LGBTQ+ rallies. On September 1, 2021, the group reunited on the show You Quiz on the Block, which aired on tv.

Mamamoo

The all-girl group was formed in 2014 under the label RWB and consists of four members: Solar, Moonbyul, Wheein, and Hwasa.

Apart from their creative fashion statements, the K-pop quintet is noted for their expertise in various genres, including jazz, R&B, ballad, and pop.

“Mr. Ambiguous” (2014), “Taller Than You” (2016), and “Um Oh Ah Yeah” (2016) are some of the hit songs with excellent voices and head-turning performances (2015).

Velvet Red

In 2014, Wendy, Irene, Seulgi, Joy, and Yeri formed Red Velvet, a four-member K-pop girl band that now has five members. Outstanding voices, vivid clothes, and lively and edgy notions helped the band develop a following.

SM Entertainment manages the group, which has so far released two studio albums. ReVeLuv is the official name of their fan group.

Irene is the group’s lead vocalist and the eldest member, and she also starred in the hit series Game Development Girls. The group is recognized for chart-topping singles such as “Velvet,” an R&B ballad, and “Red,” a dance-pop song.

(G)I-dle

Cube Entertainment formed an all-girl K-pop group in 2018 with six members, pronouncing it ‘idle’ or ‘idol.’ Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Yuqi, and Shuhua, the troupe’s five members, made it big with their first hit “Latta.”

The song reached No. 4 on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales and No. 5 on World Albums, making them the sixth all-girl K-pop group to top the Billboard World Charts in their first attempt.

Their most recent mini-album, I-Burn, was published in January of this year, and one of the most popular songs, “Hwaa,” debuted at No. 17 on the Billboard K-Pop 100 chart. It went on to make (G)I-dle one of K-most pop’s popular all-girl groups.

ITZY

With their recent album “Guess Who,” the five-member K-pop girl group landed on the Billboard 200 Chart and the Rolling Stone Top 200 in April 2021.

Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, and Yuna are members of the JYP Entertainment group, which debuted in February 2019.

TZY’s latest English album, Not Shy, was released in January 2021 and comprises big songs like “Wannabe,” “Icy,” “Dalla Dalla,” and the title track “Not Shy,” which was named one of Time magazine’s greatest K-pop songs of 2020.
